Two first ballot Hall of Fame Receivers what to play this coming season. Who would you rather have on your team – Terrell Owens or Randy Moss? To me, it is an easy question to answer. I will take the malcontent Terrell Owens. Although Terrell Owens is coming off a serious knee injury, we know that he will produce on the field. He will give you 100% ever single play! In 2010 with the Bengals, Terrell had 72 receptions for 983 yards in 14 games. He is currently playing for the Allen Wranglers, an Arena Team in Texas. Although some feel that should be beneath him, I think it shows his true love and passion for the game. On the other hand, Randy Moss had 28 receptions for 393 yards in 16 games AND three different teams in one season. Three different teams in one season has to be an NFL record. Although Randy Moss is faster and a couple years younger than Terrell Owens, he does not always give you his best effort on the field. What are your thoughts?
Mike Holmgren will finally be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame this summer. An honor that I feel is long overdue. I have a list of teammates that I played with that I feel deserve to be in the Packer Hall of Fame. I know that most people don't think that Packer Football was good in the '80s, but here are some players that should be in the Packer Hall of Fame.
Eddie Lee Ivery (RB) – 1979 1st Round draft pick out of Georgia Tech. He played for the Packers from 1979 to 1986. He was a true warrior. I saw him have his knees drained every Monday morning due to two horrible knee injuries at the hands of the Chicago Bears. At the end of his career he moved to Wide Receiver. That shows you how versatile he was.
Brian Noble (OLB, MLB) – 1985 5th Round draft pick out of Arizona State. He played for the Packers from 1985 to 1993. He was the true leader of the Packers Teams in the mid-80s to early-90s, until severe knee and back injuries ended his carrier.
Tim Harris (DE, OLB) – 1986 4th Round draft pick out of Memphis. I know this one will be controversial, but there was not a better LB in the NFL during Tim's 4 year stay with the Packers from 1986 to 1990. His 19 ½ sacks in 1989, and a Pro Bowl birth, speaks for itself.
Ken Ruettgers (LT) – 1985 1st Round draft pick out of Southern California. He played for the Packers for 11 years from 1985 to1996. Was a very consistent player throughout his career. Other than LeRoy Butler, he was the loan holdover from the Tom Braatz era. He protected the left side for many Packer great quarterbacks such as Lynn Dickey, Don Majkowski and Brett Favre.
Are there any players you feel have been overlooked?
Is it just me or does anyone else feel as though the Giants are being disrespected?. MGM Resorts just came out with the odds for teams to win the Super Bowl next year. New England is 5-1; Green Bay is 11-2; Philadelphia is 6-1, Pitt 6-1, NYG 8-1. How does the winning Super Bowl team come in fifth? The New England Patriots have significant holes on defense, especially in the secondary; and no real deep threat at the Wide Receiver position. The Green Bay Packers must get better defensively. Can they get that much better in one year – they need a RDT, and an OLB to play opposite of Clay Matthews. Can they really find those replacements in the draft to help them immediately? We know Ted will not go the free agent route. Do you honestly believe that the tandem of Michael Vick and Any Reid can win the Super Bowl for Philly? Pitt, even though they had many injuries, could come back with Todd Haley (former head coach of the Chiefs) as the new Offensive Coordinator. However, it will be fun watching him and Big Ben go at it on the sidelines. That brings us to the Giants, the most complete team in the NFL right now. Yes, they could use a cornerback and possibly a running back, but their defensive line is so good it hides some of their deficiencies. Now that the NFL has evolved into a passing league, who needs a great running back any way. Furthermore, Tom Coughlin is 2-1 against Mike McCarthy in big games so far.. Twice at Lambeau field – once with Brett Favre at QB and once with Aaron Rodgers at QB. Does Tom Coughlin have Mike McCarthy's number?
